ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Yvette Esses. I have always been interested in helping people in any way I could. Upon finishing school in Belgium in the Department of Science and Math, I moved to Montreal, Canada at the age of 19 to pursue a lifelong dream of mine…to live in Montreal. That’s right! It has been my dream and goal since I was four years old.
Once arrived in Montreal I went to Concordia University and studied Psychology with Honors. My goal at the time was to be a clinical psychologist. I wanted to help people. However, nearing the end of my bachelor's degree, I discovered my passion for fitness. This prompted me to finish my Bachelor’s in Psychology and begin a Bachelor's in Kinesiology. I wanted to become a personal trainer at the gym which enabled me to go from being overweight to being the fittest I have ever been. I wanted to inspire and help people the way I was inspired and helped by my own personal trainer.
In 2015, I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with honors, and in 2017 I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from McGill. I pursued my goal of becoming a personal trainer and have been doing that ever since. Although I was proud and happy with my achievements, I still felt a void within me. An emptiness that no amount of degrees or titles could fill. There was something more I wasn’t seeing. That is when my spiritual journey began. One that led me to uncover the truths that lie within each of us and that allowed me to create the life that I really wanted for myself. Not one that was based on society’s values.
The spiritual journey was harder than the 225lbs I could lift at the gym. But it is the mental toughness I cultivated in the gym that served me towards toughing out the highs and the lows that come with a spiritual journey.
A year into my spiritual journey I started traveling more, and eventually went on a solo trip to Australia for seven and a half months. The idea was to move there and get a fresh start but the universe had different plans for me. I ultimately returned to Canada a year later and settled into the corporate world. Although the corporate world was no fit for me, it helped me develop my communication skills, which ultimately led me to take a course on communication and afterwards become a coaching assistant. Meanwhile, as I was diving deeper into my spiritual practice, I sought to bring that into the corporate world and started giving meditation and stretching breaks to the company I was working at. Eventually, I left the corporate world and focused more on my gifts and how I could serve the world.
Because I have so much knowledge of the mind, the body, and now the spirit, I am uniquely positioned to help people out with any of these aspects. And furthermore, you may or may not realize it, but they are all connected. The mind, body, and spirit are all one. And you can’t maximize your potential if you don’t work on all aspects of yourself.
The first book I published is called “Elevate Your Life: Heal Your Traumas to Uncover Your True Self” and it is in this book that I guide you through a spiritual journey so that you can come out of it more elevated than you were before. In this book, I often use psychological terms to make it more palatable to anyone who is just starting out their spiritual journey. My mind, which very much thinks in mathematical terms due to my education in Math and Sciences, has helped me put concepts into images to help you visualize the matter discussed in this book.
My next project will be to write a fitness book about how you can optimize your workouts to suit your goals. Stay tuned for this. In the meantime, please enjoy the many other tools and resources I offer, such as my free meditations on YouTube, my personal training services, or my holistic fitness coaching.
I was really impressed with this book by Yvette Esses. She is a young woman who has clearly experienced her own share of challenges, but she has also found ways to overcome them and live a happy and fulfilling life.
The book is full of practical advice on how to apply the principles of positive psychology to your own life. The author covers a wide range of topics, including:
* How to change your mindset and focus on the positive
* How to build resilience and overcome challenges
* How to create a meaningful life
* How to connect with others and build strong relationships
* How to take care of your physical and mental health
I found the book to be very inspiring and helpful. It gave me a new perspective on life and helped me to see that I have the power to create the life I want.
If you are looking for a book that can help you to improve your life, I highly recommend Elevate your life. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to live a happier and more fulfilling life.
